Training:-

The practice of managing economic activities through groups is comparatively new in North Eastern Region. Few years back, the number of groups running economic activities was almost negligible in the rural areas of the region. Development of human capacity through improvement in knowledge and skill is a necessary requirement for economic development. We, the NEDC have been organizing rural people to build their capacity for taking up self employment activities in this aspect. Considering the importance of mobilizing people into groups our organization has been inculcating the spirit of Self Help among itís trained up people so that they can take up self employment activities on their own initiatives.

The NEDC has followed the following steps in building the capacity of rural people for self employment.

  • Self employment oriented awareness building.
  • Inculcation of the spirit of self help for development.
  • Development of managerial capacity.
  • Building of confidence and risk bearing capacity.
  • Building capacity to take decisions.
  • Building Capacity for planned development.
  • Building capacity to access to support services.

Impact of this activity:

  • Changing the mindset and the attitude towards self employment.
  • Inculcation of the spirit of self help.
  • Building confidence and risk bearing capacity among the rural people particularly unemployed youth.
  • Resource mobilization at the grass root level.

Every year, the NEDC organizes a large number of training courses covering different topics. Self employment oriented training programmes on skill and management development for youth, entrepreneurs, farmers, women, etc. with different organizations i.e. Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, Pawan Hans Helicopter Ltd., Noida, Different Urban Local Bodies of Assam under Swarna Jayanti Sahari Rojgar Yojana etc.

NEDC is registered as a Vocational Training Provider under Skill Development Initiative Scheme & conducted many training programmes in different sectors.
